Short version: Vayu does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Ever. There is no account, no login, no analytics, and no ads.

What Data We Collect

None. Vayu does not collect any personal information. The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.

Data Stored on Your Device

Vayu stores the following data locally on your device only, using Android's standard local storage. This data never leaves your phone:

Your tracked flight history (flight numbers and dates)
Your saved favourite flights
Your display preferences (time format, distance unit)
The currently active flight being tracked

You can clear this data at any time by clearing the app's data in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Flight Data

To show live flight information, the app sends the flight number you search to a server-side proxy, which retrieves data from a third-party aviation data provider (AeroDataBox). Only the flight number is transmitted — no device identifiers, location data, or personal information is included in these requests.

No Analytics

Vayu does not use any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. There is no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Crashlytics, no Facebook SDK, and no third-party advertising libraries.

No Advertising

Vayu contains no advertisements and is not affiliated with any ad network.

Permissions Explained

Draw over other apps — used solely to display the flight status pill on your home screen.
Foreground Service — required by Android to keep the overlay running while you use other apps.
Internet — used to fetch live flight data. No other network requests are made.
Post Notifications — used to show the mandatory foreground service notification required by Android.

Children's Privacy

Vayu is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Given that we collect no data, we don't anticipate significant changes.
